PARKING
There will be very limited public parking available in the parking lots directly adjacent to the skate park .
There will be public parking on Ocean Drive, but last year this quickly filled up and resulted in long walks to the park event area.
It is recommended and if at all possible that you use the parking lots north of the skate park, just beyond the amphitheater. We regret any Inconvenience this may cause.
FOOD AND DRINKS
There will be several food vendors on site selling a variety of snacks and drinks: nachos, frito-pie, hotdogs, sno-cones, candy and all kinds of noshes.
Again, this year we have another super bonus - Pizza Hut will be there serving up their tasty pizza by the slice.
And for the third year in a row the official SK8 del Sol drink is Pepsi - and they will be there providing all the cool drinks you can handle
WEATHER - IF IT RAINS
If the entire contest is rained out; the rain date will be the following day - Sunday, October 11. If it is also rained out on Sunday, we will try again on Saturday, October 17
If only a portion of the contest is rained out (like the first two age groups finish competing and it is raining) a decision will be made at that time and it will be posted on this web site.
WEATHER - HOT - HOT - HOT
This is Corpus Christi and it still can get hot - even though it is October. Without question it can be very hot with a very strong sun and, unfortunately, there are very few shady places in the park area.
Everyone is encouraged to wear hats or other head coverings. Be sure you dress with loose, lightweight and comfortable clothing. And take the time to cool off in shaded area's.
If you intend to watch the SK8 contest it might be a good idea to bring your own chair - there will be some seating, but it will be limited.
SKATERS - make sure that you don't push too hard - conserve your energy and pace yourself. Its a going to be a long day and ripping it early will not leave you with the juice to last.
Hydrating - ensure that everybody has plenty of cold liquids to drink. There are water fountains in the park and other beverages will be available from vendors.
As always, make sure that extra special attention is given to the young ones - proper clothes, hats, sun screen, shade, liquids and rest periods.
There will be security on site, provided by the City of Corpus Christi, for the entire day.
